What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?

GEO is a new marketing discipline from 2025-2026 that emerged after ChatGPT (Nov 2022), Perplexity (2022) and Google AI Overview (May 2024) hit mass-consumer adoption. Use exact figures, not "few" or "some". Fourth — Author Expertise Signals. AI trusts content created by an expert. A clear author byline + Person schema (knowsAbout array), credentials ("10 years experience"), real photo, sameAs links to LinkedIn/GitHub/Wikidata. Fifth — the llms.txt file.
